The Story Behind Rubicon Oasis:
Your Neighborhood Bar
in Rubicon, WI
A cozy little gathering spot on Hwy P.
Welcoming bikers, cruisers, snowmobilers, and neighbors alike.
Rubicon Oasis is the neighborhood bar in Rubicon, WI that grew out of a simple idea: build a spot where anyone rolling in, on two wheels, four wheels, or a snowmobile — feels like family.
What started as a small roadside stop on Hwy P has become the place where Dodge and Washington County folks land after a long ride, a long week, or just because.
We're not fancy.
We're not corporate.
We're the kind of bar where the bartender remembers your order and the regulars remember your name.
Our Story
Three decades on County Road P — and still just “The O”.
For nearly three decades, Rubicon Oasis has been part of the little community of Rubicon, Wisconsin. But around here, nobody really calls it Rubicon Oasis. It’s just “The O”.
It’s the kind of hometown bar where you’re bound to recognize someone when you walk through the door—and if you don’t, chances are you will by the time you leave. Over the years, generations of locals have pulled up a stool, shared a cold drink, listened to some music, told a few stories (some better than others), and made a whole lot of memories here.
For many of those years, Don and Janet Gubin were behind The O. Later, Janet’s son John returned to Wisconsin and found his way behind the bar before eventually purchasing the business from his mom. He went on to own and operate The O for several years, keeping it the familiar small-town watering hole everyone knew and loved.
Of course, a place that’s been around this long is going to change a little. But the important stuff hasn’t: cold drinks, affordable prices, familiar faces, big laughs, and the kind of culture that makes it easy to stay for “just one more”.
In recent years, The O started another chapter under the ownership of Danya Sasada. The goal has been pretty simple—keep what people love about their hometown bar while finding new ways to add a little more fun.
That includes taking things outside during the Wisconsin summers with Rubi’s Runaway, The O’s summertime tiki bar, bringing events, sunshine, plenty of cold ones, and another level of community.
Today, The O is still right where it’s always been on County Road P. Longtime regulars still have their favorite stools, new faces keep walking through the door, and there’s usually another story waiting to be made.
No fancy gimmicks. Just a drink in hand with good people, great times, and YEARS of history and stories shared. That’s The O.
Locally Owned,
Down to Earth
A small, cute bar that's become the go-to stop for riders and regulars alike.
Rubicon Oasis is locally owned and it shows — from the hand-painted tiki accents out back to the well-worn barstools inside.
This is a small, cute bar with a big personality, tucked right along the routes riders, cruisers, and sledders already use to get where they're going.
Bikers pull in for a cold one between backroad runs.
Snowmobilers stomp the snow off their boots and warm up by the bar.
And regulars — the ones who've been coming since before it even had a sign — hold down their usual seats.
It's a mix that shouldn't work as well as it does, but out here, it just does.
